Oh wow Susan Barry sounds like my most recent PoA, someone nice to me who listened to my problems and I fell in love, I lost a lot of weight and wanted to seduce him yet he just stayed a friend, and his rejection got me to start the 12 steps.

Someone interviewed me once about my experience in AA. I asked him what the common denominator in everyone's story. What was that special moment did they all have in common. He said, "They all seem to remember and cherish when they are at a meeting and the speaker tells their story (the story of the listener). In 1982, I was in OA and did not hear my story. I went to AA and heard my story. Not my story about addiction, but my story about all the things I did that I am now ashamed of. If you find a program and hear you story, you are in the right place.

It is so nice to see that I am not the only one with those unhealthy patterns and that there is a way to recover. I have faced other addictions too, but this one is the hardest. Thank you for this board. I have found a lot of support and hope.
